Day One of 40 Day Juicing Fast

Saturday, March 8th 2014-

I woke up this morning with the same atrocious appetite that I've had for months, craving sweets and junk. However, today I decided to put the new juicer that I acquired for only $37.00 at the local Wal-Mart to good use. The previous Thursday I stocked up on various types of fruits and veggies such as pineapples, avocados, limes, lemons, oranges, kale, spinach, apples, celery..

I'd say the worst part of the first day of this juicing experiment for me was the actual preparation of the fruit and vegetables. All that cutting and peeling , you know? But now that I think about it, it's well worth it in the end. This first day without any solid "food" in my stomach, I ventured out to try a juicing recipe that included celery, apples, oranges, and limes. I have to say it was wonderful. Truly, energizing.

I mentioned to a friend that I feel so much better physically from the intake. I do not feel cheated or that I have done my self a disservice by trying out something new. I have also made a commitment to myself to buy only fruits and vegetables and to skip any of the fast food restaurants when I go out. They seem so convenient, but truly are they?

Considering the  potential health risks of GMO's, corn syrup, and other additives in most processed foods, I find that juicing gives a beneficial alternative.
40 DAYS of JUICING

 Saturday, March 8, 2014

Today, I decided to go forth with my idea of pursuing a forty day juice fast. I woke up this morning and consciously made the decision to put to use the $ 37.00 personal juicer I purchased from Wal-Mart Thursday. I picked up various fruits and vegetables the same day such as pineapple,  oranges, lemons, limes, celery, avocado, kale, and spinach to name a few.

I would say the worst part of the juicing process is the preparation of the fruits and vegetables. Of course, you would want to wash the items firstly, but there's a lot of cutting and chopping involved and this is where most of the prep time is spent.

I mentioned to my friend that I felt a tremendous bit more energized after drinking the juice. I do not feel as though I have an "empty" stomach , at all.

I don't see where I'll have much of a challenge in sticking to the fast, because I actually enjoy the taste of the recipes I've found online and tried out, such as a blend that includes celery, oranges, limes, and apples.

I will do my best in continuing the blog on a daily, in order to provide some sort of guidepost in where I have progressed in the fast.
